Types of Eyeliners for Beginners 

Pencil:
This type of eyeliner is just like a pencil except the center is eyeliner instead of lead. Pencil eyeliners tend to give a softer look.

Pros:
- great for beginners
- comes in all different kinds of colors
- smudge-able to create smokey



Cons:
-some transfer to lower lashline/ lid
- fade easily
- smudges everywhere
- needs to be set with a eyeshadow
- needs to be constantly sharpened

Crayon:
This type of eyeliner is like a pencil eyeliner but instead being enclosed in wood its held in plastic and u twist it up like the crayola crayons. The crayon eyeliner is very similar to the pencil in that both of them tend to give a softer look.

- doesn't need sharpening most of the time
- comes in variety of colors
- smudge-able

- may smudge easily
- may transfer onto lids or lower lashline
- needs to be set with eyeshadow
- may break if u twist too much out and press hard

Liquid:
This type of eyeliner creates a bolder look with a sharper line and may dry to a matte or shiny finish. Some liquid eyeliners also tend to crack and flake after a few hours and fade throughout the day.

Gel:
This eyeliner comes in a creamy form stored in a small glass or plastic container and applied with an angled eyeliner brush. Gel eyeliners can be used to make a sharp defined line or smudged out for a smokey look. Gel eyeliners are used more frequently than any other type of eyeliner.
