[REVIEW] SKIN79 Hot Pink vs. MISSHA M Perfect Cover BB Creams Comparison

The Skin79 Hot Pink Super Plus BB cream and the Missha M Perfect Cover BB cream are two of the most popular Asian BB creams out there.  I thought it would be helpful to do a comparison review since BB creams are one of the biggest beauty trends right now in US.  But somehow in the US, BB cream is referred to as a tinted moisturizer.  Weird huh, I wonder why they don’t use the name BB cream…

Just to give you a general idea, BB cream stand for blemish balm. (Bleblesh Balm for skin79 because of copyrights)  It is a cosmetic product that was first developed by German dermatologists to help laser surgery patients protect and provide light coverage for post-laser scars.  Soon, it grew very popular in South Korea, and later over all Asia.

BB creams come in many different formulas.  Many of them claim to have whitening, brightening, anti-acne, or anti-wrinkle properties. Most of them contain SPF so it protects your skin from harmful UV rays.

BB creams work differently on different types of skin.  There are BB creams that are formulated for a specific type of skin or for all skin types.  Both the Skin79 Hot Pink and the Missha M Perfect Cover BB creams are formulated for all types of skin.

I have combination skin, oily t-zone &normal to dry in the cheeks.  &Here’s my review on these two BB creams:

BRAND/PRODUCT:
Skin79 Hot Pink Super Plus Beblesh Balm vs. Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream SPF 42 PA+++

Missha = SPF42 PA++

PRODUCT CLAIMS:
Both claimed to have whitening and anti-Wrinkle properties.
Anti-Wrinkle - I don't have wrinkles yet so I don't know if it really works.
Whitening - I don't see a significant change on my redness/blemishes.

SHADES/COLOR MATCHING:
Skin79 = Pale to Medium Skin tone
Missha = Pale to Dark Skin tone

INGREDIENTS: I highlighted the same ingredients from both products.

NATURAL/ORGANIC:
Nope! Since I am on the process of transitioning to natural products, i will not purchase BB creams anymore, because most of Asian BB creams contain parabens and other harmful ingredients. I am just speechless after looking at the ingredients lists! TONS OF BAD STUFF!

PACKAGING:
SKIN79
MISSHA
Both packagings are nice and the pump dispensers are convenient. But i like the Skin79 packaging a little bit more, because for the Missha one, the cap can get dirty easily.  However, the Skin79 packaging is a lot heavier than the Missha one.  That didn't bother me too much, because i don't travel a lot.

SMELL:
Both have floral scents.  But the Skin79 is lightly scented and will fade away during the day while the Missha one has a strong and quite unpleasant floral scent. And the smell will stay all day.  So I prefer the Skin79 scent.

APPLICATION/TEXTURE:

BB creams are best applied with your finger.  1-2 pumps are enough to cover the whole face.  It will not leave a white cast if you didn't put too much on your face. Both BB creams spread out smoothy on my face, I don't feel greasy nor sticky.
Skin79 has a grayish undertones
Missha has a yellowish undertones.

PERFORMANCE:
AFTER 30MIN
AFTER 1 HOUR

Even though both BB creams have medium coverages and evens out my skin tone, I find that the Missha one is better at covering acne scars and blackheads.  But the Skin79 feels more lightweight and looks more natural on me.  As for oil control, both have great oil control, but i find that the Skin79 is better at controlling my oiliness compared to the Missha one.  However, for the Skin79 one, sweats pulled the BB creams off my face, while for the missha one, sweats didn't fade away the BB cream, but it left my skin feeling oily and shiny.

  2. Amazing review! Best I've seen on any BB Creams.. you are very thorough. It was much better than Liah Yoo's reviews, which are unfocused and kind of all over the place lol.

  3. Thank you for taking the time to do this review! I like Missha but want something with more oil control, so am considering Skin79. I got a travel size of Skin79 and will see how it works out.
